Attorneys at Law

Robert Palmer

Robert joined the firm in 2024. Robert spent nearly 11 years as an attorney for the City and Borough of Juneau, including six years as the Municipal Attorney. In Juneau, Robert provided legal advice to every municipal department (Assembly, planning, school district, hospital, harbors, engineering, finance, utilities, parks, airport, police, and clerk’s office) and supervised a criminal division that prosecuted 1,100 cases per year. Robert enjoys drafting legislation and helping municipalities address complex topics like updating land use codes, resolving property disputes, managing tourism, and creating the legal framework for economic development. Robert has also litigated or directed litigation strategies involving employment matters, police use of force, personal injury claims, property tax appeals, property disputes, land use decisions, and cruise ships. Prior to moving to Alaska, Robert worked as an attorney in western Washington representing private clients litigating land use and property disputes between neighbors and governments (local, state, federal, and tribal).

Before Robert found his passion practicing law, he worked as a law enforcement officer and led wildland fire crews across the West.  When not in the office, you’ll rarely find Robert on the couch. Robert and his family love exploring Alaska and harvesting all sorts of protein and berries.

Robert earned an undergraduate degree in geology and a graduate certificate in emergency management from the University of Washington. Robert earned his juris doctorate degree, cum laude, from the Seattle University School of Law. Robert is licensed to practice in Alaska and Washington, including in federal court.
